Meet Dr. Barakah Day, MD — San Antonio's Own
Hi, I’m Dr. Barakah Day. I go by Berica (both ways pronounced Erica with a B)! I was born in Boston, but raised in here in San Antonio. As a senior with Irish genes, I was thrilled to be accepted into the University of Notre Dame. I played tennis for our Division ! top 10 team and obtained leadership recognition in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. I also participated in the Neonatal ICU HUGS program. After graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Theology, I returned home to work towards becoming a pediatrician. I received my medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Following medical school, I moved to Austin for my pediatric residency at Dell Children’s Hospital with the University of Texas Southwestern. In Austin, I was introduced to roller skating during a residency retreat and ultimately joined a competitive roller derby team during my final year of residency that travelled to London.
I gained invaluable experience in underserved areas across Central Texas as a pediatrician with Dell Children’s Circle of Care/ Lonestar Circle of Care and treated a variety of medical conditions where specialists were not always available to the patients. In 2016, I accepted a position at Austin Diagnostic Clinic in South Austin. It was during that time I met my husband Brad and we started a family!
I’m very excited to be back in my hometown. My hobbies include Crossfit, and having new adventures with my husband and three young kids, Brady, Beau, and Bella- swimming and exploring a variety of places like the Pearl, riverwalk, botanical gardens, and various playgrounds and parks. We love having grandparents close by and all the friends we’ve made or reconnected with since moving to San Antonio in 2021.
